Standards Interpretation Bulletin

The EOS/ESD Association, Inc. Standards Committee is issuing this interpretation bulletin regarding ANSI/ESD S6.1-2014. The intention of this bulletin is to clarify the application of ANSI/ESD S6.1-2014 procedures to facilities outside of North America.
Facilities that want to use ANSI/ESD S6.1 in countries outside of North America should use the equivalent of the country’s local electric code.
Measurements of the AC equipment ground are completed by the local facility’s organization or equivalent.
if the country’s local electric code does not specify a requirement for auxiliary ground, then the resistance between auxiliary ground and equipment grounding conductor or equivalent shall be less than 25 ohms.
AC equipment ground as referred to in this interpretation bulletin can also be referred to as protective earth. Auxiliary ground as referred to in this interpretation bulletin can also be referred to as functional ground.
